TSA to supply additional Traction Alternators for Hitachi Super Express Trains
TSA received an order to supply MTU Friedrichshafen (A Rolls Royce and Daimler Company) with additional traction alternators. The alternators will be used to equip the PowerPacks of trains of the new Super Express Fleet of the UK government’s Intercity Express Programme (known as the „IEP”).
The generators are custom-designed to work with MTU’s type 12V 1600 R80L diesel engines that meet EU Stage IIIB emmissions regulations. Hitachi Rail Europe is responsible for building the new 225 km/h highspeed trains.
The first pre-series Class 800 Super Express Train left Hitachi’s Kasado Works of Japan in the first week of 2015.
