Get ready for InnoTrans in Berlin! It’s all about more power, more innovation, and more future
TSA unveils cutting-edge electromobility solutions at InnoTrans 2024
Traktionssysteme Austria (TSA) is set to showcase its innovation in rail drive systems at InnoTrans 2024. The countdown to InnoTrans 2024 has begun. As a leading developer and manufacturer of electric drive systems for rolling stock and commercial road vehicles, TSA is thrilled to participate in the world’s largest rail and transport technology fair. The event will take place from September 24–27, 2024 in Berlin.
TSA will present five key exhibits, highlighting innovative solutions and the latest developments in electromobility, potentially shaping the future of transportation. Here’s a glimpse of the TSA products you can experience live at InnoTrans:
- The TMF 50-29-4 electric motors, coupled with the GMK 2-55-495 gearboxes, will power the Regio 160 trains from polish manufacturer PESA. These trains will operate for the Łódzka Kolej Aglomeracyjna regional railway. The electric multiple unit (EMU) is designed for superior efficiency and reliability.
- TSAs’ TMR 50A-22-4 electric motors will power the Metro Milano fleet manufactured by Hitachi Rail STS. TSA will supply 736 motors for the expansion of Milan’s metro system, an integral part of the city’s forward-thinking public transit network. Thanks to a specialized solution, the TSA drive system can operate on both 750 V and 1500 V supply lines, ensuring flexibility across different routes.
- The TMF 69-42-6 electric motor, featured in Stadler’s EURO9000 locomotive, sets new standards for sustainability and performance. The EURO9000 is a modern hybrid, four-system freight locomotive capable of operating across Europe using both electric and diesel power. Its compact design, high starting traction, continuous power, and optimal operating costs make it exceptional.
- The TME 54-29-4 electric motor offers operational flexibility in CAF’s Civity-BEMU regional trains. This motor will be powering battery-electric multiple units (BEMU) operating in the Rhein-Ruhr public transport network (VRR) and the Westfalen-Lippe region (NWL) in Germany. These trains can run on both overhead power and on battery power on non-electrified routes, providing a versatile transport solution.
- TSA will also present the HD.T3 Electric Motor, a road-specific motor highlighting the growing trend toward electrification in the road sector. Designed for commercial road vehicles, the HD.T3 motor plays a significant role in reducing CO2 emissions. At InnoTrans, a cross-section of the motor will be on display at the TSA stand to showcase its technical sophistication.
Robert Tencl, CEO of TSA, expressed his excitement: ‘These masterpieces of engineering and innovation have made TSA a hidden champion in electric drives for rolling stock and commercial road vehicles. Our success, like the major order from PESA Bydgoszcz for 328 drives in Romania, speaks for itself.’
TSA’s global impact: powering sustainable rail solutions at InnoTrans 2024
TSA’s electric motors are at the heart of some remarkable vehicles on display at InnoTrans 2024. Here are a few highlights from the outdoor exhibits:
Končar Electric Vehicles will showcase both a battery-electric multiple unit (BMU) and a diagnostic wagon for the Croatian Railways (HŽ – Hrvatske željeznice). Both vehicles are designed with a focus on sustainable transport, powered by TSA motors for maximum efficiency and performance.
Plasser & Theurer’s CatenaryCrafter 15.4 E³ Models for the Austrian Federal Railways (Österreichische Bundesbahnen, ÖBB) are next-generation, emission-free high-performance maintenance vehicles. These state-of-the-art machines, also powered by TSA motors, will be on display in Berlin, representing a powerhouse of Austrian engineering.
Stadler Rail will feature several vehicles equipped with TSA’s latest technology. This includes the ÖBB-KISS double-decker train, the ÖBB RTZ rescue and fire train, the CityLink for the VDV-Tram-Train project, and a FLIRT AKKU overhead-battery hybrid train. Guests of InnoTrans can also explore a train designed for Ferrovie Autolinee Regionali Ticinesi SA (FART), which will replace the old rolling stock on the renowned Centovalli line in Ticino. While these Stadler models are diverse, they all share a common feature – cutting-edge TSA electric motor technology.
Other manufacturers using TSA’s technology, such as Loram from USA, showcasing the RG400 track maintenance vehicle, and IPE Locomotori from Italy with their E6 locomotive for Nexrail Leasing, will also present their innovations at the fair.
Johannes Mensdorff-Pouilly, TSA’s Head of Sales for RAIL.ROAD.SERVICE., adds: ‘With every InnoTrans, more and more vehicles equipped with our TSA motors are on display. We are proud to be playing a key role in the international rail vehicle market, contributing to a zero-emissions future.’
