Innovation Management is Key to Success – TSA brings Future Electromobility to Rail and Road Today
The long history of rail vehicles proves that today’s progress could by no means have been achieved without constant innovations over the past centuries.
In order to further shape the future of electromobility for rolling stock and commercial road vehicles, Traktionssysteme Austria (TSA) has restructured its innovation landscape within the last 2 years. ‘We started a multi-part Innovation Journey and visited several Austrian and international best practice companies from various industries in order to get fresh food for thought, but also to share our many years of experience’, said Günter Eichhübl, Traktionssysteme Austria CEO.
TSA adapted its innovation organization by creating an interdepartmental Innovation Management (IM) Team headed by Markus Neubauer in 2019. The IM has since acted as a guardian and creator of the process and as a driver of development projects. At TSA, the IM landscape is divided into the 3 major interrelated areas of Idea Management, Technology Reporting and the Technology Roadmap including its development projects. This ensures that the ideas of our own employees as well as the knowledge gained from the company’s environment (such as from collaborations with universities or from participating in international conferences) can be implemented efficiently.
Where can you see TSA’s innovations? We precisely reduced the noise emissions of our specially developed electric drives for metro trains of a European metropolis. The vehicles will offer a totally new travel experience to the passengers during the ride. Another customer of TSA was able to build its rail vehicles with significantly more passenger space thanks to our innovative concept of the electric motor. Innovation Management at TSA goes beyond borders as we design and build electric motors for transport systems that do not even exist yet, such as for the Hyperloop!
Experiencing innovations first-hand, trying out the latest technologies and setting trends are not just empty words from an abstract strategy paper at TSA!
