TSA motors for Light Rail projects in Australia

The Australian cities Canberra and Newcastle launched revitalization projects including the introduction of new tram routes for a modern city center mobility.
Transport Canberra Light Rail is responsible for operating a new line of 12 km length, providing a corridor between Canberra‘s government district and the area of Gungahlin. With a new tram line which will be 3 km long, the municipal administration of Newcastle is planning to combine a new beginning and modern aesthetics with former times of tramway operation for the city. The opening of the two new traffic routes is scheduled for 2019.
CAF‘s Urbos trams were selected by the operators for both cities as they already have been used successfully in Sydney. The trams in Canberra as well as in Newcastle will be equipped with TSA‘s robust Urbos double traction motors which will soon be produced in Wiener Neudorf.
