On 16 December 2012 the first vehicle of the new generation of low-floor electric multiple-units was showcasted at an opening ceremony at the Mariazellerbahn‘s Laubenbachmühle depot (Lower Austria).
The vehicles which Stadler Rail is supplying for Austria‘s longest narrow gauge railway are equipped with motors by Traktionssysteme Austria.
In the presence of Peter Spuhler, CEO of Stadler Rail, and Erwin Pröll, governor of Lower Austria, the „Himmelstreppe“ („Stairway to Heaven“) was presented to the public. The project commissioning of all 9 new vehicles will start in December 2013.
